VIZCAYA MUSEUM & GARDENS

The Automotive Leadership Roundtable held its annual Awards event honoring the industry’s top automotive retailers at the Vizcaya Museum & Gardens as attendees were treated to a six-star dinner concert and reception performed by Tony Bennett and other Grammy-Award winning artists from his Duets I & II albums.

Visited by Ronald Reagan, Bill Clinton, Queen Elizabeth II, Pope John Paul II and many others, the Vizcaya Museum & Gardens is one of Miami’s most distinguished landmarks. In its heyday, Vizcaya’s builder American Industrialist James Deering entertained many celebrities and dignitaries such as Marion Davies, Lilian Gish, Thomas Edison, President Warren G. Harding and artist John Singer Sargent.

Deering, a famed conservationist, used the mansion as his winter home from 1916 till his death in 1925. In designing the estate, Deering was inspired by a combination of Veneto and Tuscan Italian Renaissance models which he adapted to Florida’s native ecosystem. The Vizcaya includes elaborate gardens, woodlands, the mansion and museum and village. Its 50 acres sits on Biscayne Bay in the Coconut Grove neighborhood of Miami.

Today, Vizcaya is a popular wedding spot and is one of Miami’s most photographed landmarks The villa serves as a backdrop in many popular films such as Any Given Sunday, Bad Boys II, Ace Ventura – Pet Detective along with many others.

One other tidbit that makes for good cocktail conversation — one of the first set of dishes ordered for Vizcaya was lost on the ill-fated Titanic.

VERSACE MANSION

The exclusive Versace Mansion is Ocean Drive’s most infamous residence and provides a magical setting for Automotive Leadership Roundtable’s Annual Awards Dinner celebrating the accomplishments of the country’s #1 dealers.

Built in 1930, the house retains most of the original structure with all the charm of the Mediterranean style. In 1992 Italian fashion designer Gianni Versace visited South Beach, saw the home, and fell in love with it. He restored the home to its original glory and brought international celebrities like Elton John and Madonna to party there. After Versace’s death, the 19,000 square foot Rococo beachfront villa in the heart of South Beach remained an icon of fascination. The 10-room hotel is modeled on a Roman palazzo filled with fountains, frescoes and stained glass, featuring a pool and terrace tiled in thousands of colorful mosaics and lined in 24k gold.

Dinner attendees were treated to an extraordinary pre-dinner reception in Versace’s courtyard. As they enter the gorgeous pool terrace, they will be serenaded by the sounds of one of Miami’s smoothest Cuban bands. A six-star dinner awaits followed by a celebratory toast with Louis XIII cognac, decadent desserts, hand-rolled cigars and after-dinner parties in the Versace’s many luxurious suites – a perfect environment for the end of the 2012 Awards Dinner.
